This Flatweave will be handwoven by Fatima and the artisans of the Association Le Vieux Village which is a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht.
It’s thought that this checkerboard design symbolizes barley and could be a wish for fertility for the weaver, or for the rug’s final home.
The repeated geometric elements make this piece feel modern, although it represents thousands of years of tradition and symbolism.
