This rug comes from Fatima who resides in a village 20 km outside of Amizmiz which is based in the Al Haouz Province of Morocco.
Saida and her sister Khadijah have recently started a village association of women weavers to help their elder neighbors sell their beautifully handcrafted rugs.
This rug is roughly 70 years old and was woven by Fatima’s family. Fatima is from the Middle Atlas Mountains where this rug style originated. Known for its seasonal versatility, this rug was originally flipped based on the temperature outside.
This vintage rug was made of 100% wool and dyed with only natural spices.
With simple geometric diamond shapes against bold colors these pieces radiate beauty.
You will find some light fraying on either end due the rug’s lifespan, but with proper care, this rug will endure for decades to come.
