This Intricate Hanbel will be woven by Rokia. Rokia is part of a collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht, a village that is known for its weaving history.
Using 100% live wool and all natural spices, this piece exudes energy. The rug’s base color comes from naturally dying the wool red from saffron and other floral mixes and the symbolism hand stitched and embroidered into the weave comes from henna, pomegranate skin, indigo, saffron flower and mint.
Every design element comes entirely from Rokia’s imagination – the symbols within this rug depict protection from evil, strength, beauty and respect just to name a few.
