This Marmoucha Hand-Knot rug was woven by Zahra.
Marmoucha, which is the name of the village as well as rug style, is located in the North of Morocco and sits just south of Fez. Marmoucha is in the region where the infamous Beni Ourain tribe once lived.
Zahra, pictured, is the leader of one of the five associations located in the village..
This area produces some of the strongest wool of all of Morocco which allows their rugs to be extra plush and soft. This piece was woven with 100% locally sourced, undyed wool.
